Why do we celebrate Pancake Day?

Pancake Day is traditionally known as Shrove Tuesday, which marks the last day before Lent.For Christians, Lent sees 40 days and 40 nights of abstinence or fasting ahead of Easter.Traditionally this meant giving up fatty foods such as butter, meat and milk, but these days people cut out treats such as biscuits, crisps and chocolate.
