Honey appears in many cosmetic formulations and home skincare traditions. Its texture can feel emollient, and formulated products may use honey-derived ingredients for sensory or moisturising purposes. Ordinary food honey, however, should not be presented as a proven treatment for acne, eczema, rosacea, infection, scars or pigmentation.
Food Honey and Medical-grade Honey Are Different
Some sterilised, standardised honey dressings are regulated medical devices for specific wounds and burns. They are manufactured and packaged for medical use. A retail jar of honey is not sterile and is not an equivalent wound-care product.
